Who

Mairon Croes is the name, but I also go online by “Gridcoder”.

I am a “full stack” (mostly front-end) web developer and IT consultant with a bachelor of engineering degree in media technology, working in both the private and public sector.

I have a passion for tech with thoughtful design.
I spend most of my days reading, listening, watching, learning (need to quench that knowledge thirst) or tinkering with something cool to try to make life a little easier.

In between all that, I spend time with my very understanding better half and friends, or indulging in some form of entertainment (my “Watch Later” and games lists are getting longer each day…)

What

My goal with The Codegrid (website and Discord server) is to share some of the knowledge that I gather.
Longer form content will be on the site, while The Codegrid Discord Server will serve as a continuous stream of interesting links.

I have not designed or coded it myself because otherwise this site would NOT be online right now, hehe.
I am customizing it to my needs though (I like to experiment), so I hope you’re okay with change…

The current theme is a modified version of the wonderful “Astro Paper” (build in the excellent Astro JS), by Sat Niang (repo).

Why

I have always enjoyed sharing what I learn with others.
Instead of keeping my bookmarks and research in my private notes, I figured why not share them?
Who knows maybe it can spark an idea, point someone in the right direction, or just save somebody, somewhere, some time.

So what’s up with the name?
Well, when I started my IT/development business around 2012, I needed a name.
Since I really like the movie Tron (“The Grid” would be too on the nose), and I figured everything runs on code, “The Codegrid” was born.
Also, the domain was available, hehe.

And with that, you can probably figure out where the nickname “gridcoder” came from.
